Sunroom

PORCH + SUNROOM ADDITION

Partnered project with architect Rex Ingram

After living in their suburban home for six years, the homeowner felt disconnected from the outdoors. Harsh winters limited time on their deck and the best views from the indoors could only be had by standing at the kitchen sink or near family room sliders. The back of the home felt sun-baked. Wanting a space that had its own character rather than an extension of the family room, the 15’x20’ sunroom was built a step down from the home, features heated bluestone floors that tie to the outdoors and complement the interior wood floors, expansive windows that allow for natural light, and a 12’ wall of tandem pocket doors that can easily be opened and closed as needed. To help connect the sunroom to the patio, we created a farmer’s porch that increased the usable outdoor space and is what the homeowner calls an “outdoor oasis.”
