Bloom Where You Are Planted

BLOOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED

Designed with Sage Conti Design

“Please don’t give us a boring white kitchen!” was something reiterated by the client during the design process. Quite the opposite happened with Sage Conti’s design of their kitchen, wet bar, and walk-in pantry. Moving a wall 18” and closing off a second pantry entry breathed life into the new kitchen layout while losing a small island and large peninsula created a better flow. We engineered custom cabinet door profiles, milled custom moldings, left the backsplash free of outlets by placing them in the underside of the upper cabinets or into the island, and preserved the already magazine-quality finishes (like hand-painted Venetian plaster walls) in the home during the construction process. We also contracted with a local blacksmith to design and fabricate custom brass decorative hardware: knobs, pulls, and inlays. The piece de resistance is the mosaic backsplash which was designed from a sketch by the artist homeowner.

Around the corner from the kitchen is the smaller, but more-functional pantry. Designed as the baking room, this space is outfitted with custom cabinetry, high-end appliances, and a beautiful new view of the backyard. It is covered from top to bottom in the most elegant shade of blue that shows off the Mother of Pearl fish-scale backsplash.

The client says that when they turn on the lights in their new spaces, they just smile at its beauty.
