All Grown Up

ALL GROWN UP

Partnered project with Eric Inman Daum, AIA

In 1995, a young couple built this custom home on a spectacular piece of land. Seventeen years of wind and weather revealed several shortcuts the original builder took that had led to the home being energy inefficient and tired looking. After consulting with an architect who specialized in colonial details, drawings were developed for adding roof overhangs with soffit and rake trim, new window pediments, and an upgraded front door.

One special challenge to this project was the interior finishes in the house were lovely and valuable. We engineered an installation process to remove the exterior clapboards and sheathing, replace the wall insulation and windows without removing any interior plaster or trim. This was a testament to accurate measuring and masterful installation.

We were also tasked with updating a family bathroom and adding built-ins to their teen’s bedroom. Now this horse-loving family stays cool on even the hottest days and warm on the coldest ones.
