Keeping What Works
KEEPING WHAT WORKS
Designed with Sacris Design
A dozen years after purchasing their forever home, this client realized that it was time to reinvigorate the spaces. While the bones of the home were good, there were architectural missteps and design elements that no longer worked.
The kitchen cabinets were in very good shape for being 25 years old so the client asked us to think creatively about how to keep them so that they could devote their budget elsewhere. We built a stunning island – designed to be detailed like a century-old French stove became the centerpiece of the kitchen. It was then accompanied by a contrasting wet bar with bronze screened doors and painted finish.
Devoting their budget elsewhere allowed our clients to renovate other parts of their home. The mudroom (complete with custom cabinetry for lockers, a workspace, and wine fridge), master suite, dining room, den and not-so-great great room all received attention. We reworked the original awkward ceiling in the great room into a sleek barrel vault and added layers of millwork to the walls. The clients fell in love with their home again.
